Activities Director

Mary Milone has been the Activities Director at Lakeview House Nursing Home for the past twelve years. Her multiple duties include planning activities for both Skilled Nursing and Rest Home residents. She organizes various religious activities, including Bible study, Mass and Communion. She procures outside entertainment activities for residents, and brings musicians, puppeteers, exercise trainers, artists and craftspeople to Lakeview House’s campus. Mary also arranges trips to popular local restaurants for dining and socializing, and creates special occasion events such as the Candlelight Ball and the Harvest Ball. Every August, she coordinates a family, resident and staff barbecue on the facility grounds. Some of the ongoing activities she coordinates include coffee and bingo socials, wellness clinics, resident council meetings, and game programs. The Red Hat Society stages their renowned dessert parties for female residents through Mary’s efforts. She also assists residents with voter registration.

Previously Mary was Activities Director at Woodland, Bain, Methuen House Nursing Home.
She also held positions at Methuen’s McGowan Nursing Home and at Bon Secours Hospital after serving as a private duty practical nurse for disabled clients in their own homes.

Mary’s interests are varied. She designed and managed Plaistow Common Antiques, and owned and operated Sweet Beginnings Bridal. She has been a wedding dress designer, seamstress, photographer, floral designer and wedding planner. She has also been actively involved with the Cub Scouts as a den leader and has worked as a neighborhood commissioner.

She is a member of GHAD/GIAO Activities Director’s Association in Greater Haverhill, MA, and is a member of the Better Business Bureau in Lawrence, MA. In addition, Mary has held local political office, and is a past president of her area’s Special Education Parent Teacher Association.

Mary is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence, graduating with an emphasis in business. She attended North Shore Community College and Northern Essex Community College, and has two certificates in special education. She earned a certificate from Babson College in activities and nursing home procedures, and a certificate in special training in reality orientation from Danvers State Hospital.
